In this lesson students, will be asked to review what they have learnt about energy in this module. They will complete a summative assessment and then compare their new understanding of energy with their concept of energy at the beginning of the module.

Students Prior Knowledge and Experience
Students have completed the module Introduction to Energy. In this module they have been introduced to; the concepts energy, work, power, the international system of units or SI of Joules and Watts, simple calculations, energy types including potential, kinetic, light, sound, chemical, electrical, heat and nuclear.

Learning Purposes and Links to Learning Area Outcomes and Aspects
This lesson is linked to science learning outcome Energy and Change and the aspect energy types; there are many types of energy: light, sound, chemical, electrical, kinetic, potential, heat, nuclear. It is also linked to science learning outcome Working Scientifically, and refers to the skills and processes involved in science. (Department of Education and Training, 2008)

Preparation and Resources
Print off a class set of Activity Sheet 9.  The screen shot of the class discussion as taken in Lesson 1.  An interactive white board.

Learning Experiences
Introduction
Hand out Activity Sheet 9 and read through with the class. Remind students of appropriate behaviour for assessments and clarify any queries.

Main body of lesson
Start assessment and display time on interactive white board. (30 minutes) At the end of 30 minutes collect assessments. Redistribute test and have students mark them (but not their own) as you go through the answers. Collect test so marking can be checked and recorded.

Closure and Transition to next lesson
Display the screen capture of the class discussion in Lesson 1 on the interactive whiteboard. Go though each idea and ask students if they now feel that it belongs in the column it was allocated in Lesson 1. Lead a class disscusion on how their knowlage of energy has grown.

Student Evaluation
Students’ science note books with completed activity sheets can be collected and marked. Mark the summative review test.
